Happy Memorial Day

I could never imagine what it’s like on the front lines of war. The death; the destruction; not only of life, but of entire cities and ways of life. Not even the greatest movies can bring to us the feelings of fear, and loneness, and the thought that every step you take could be the last step you have that these people felt every day. I have often heard from friends that their family members do not really talk about their experiences in war. My own grandparents never talk about it. But they actually tell us a lot more than we think. Not about what they experienced during the war, but what they learned from it. To love each other; to help a neighbor in need; to not take for granted that which is most precious to our lives; to be faithful; to be thankful; and most of all to love life. Nothing else needs to be said by them that we can’t already learn if we just take the time to listen and study the reasons for their service and sacrifice.

After a weekend of watching History Channel specials such as WWII in HD and watching The Monuments Men last night, I have to say that I am forever reminded of the great life that we get to have because of the amazing efforts of those who protect us. From 1776 to today, we remember those that have given their lives for our country. Thank you to our veterans who have gone before us and all those who currently serve here at home, and away on foreign soil. God Bless America.
